Hiker, 58, rescued after falling off cliff in Sai Kung

A 58-year-old man was rescued after falling off a cliff while hiking in Ma On Shan Country Park.

The hiker was among a group of five men and three women who trekked Section Three of the MacLehose Trail near Sai Kung, hk01 reports.

At around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, the man was believed to have lost his footing and fell about five meters down a cliff, prompting one of his companions to call the police for help.

The Government Flying Service (GFS) sent out a helicopter and rescued the man, who suffered a leg fracture and a wound to his forehead.

The victim remained conscious while he was airlifted to the GFS headquarters in Lantau before he was transferred by an ambulance to the North Lantau Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The police found nothing suspicious in the incident after a preliminary investigation.
