Police launch probe after woman’s body found in To Kwa Wan

Police are investigating the death of a woman after her body was found in suspicious circumstances within the premises of a building in To Kwa Wan on Thursday.

At around 10 am, authorities received information of a person lying motionless on the ground in an open courtyard within the Honour Building on To Kwa Wan Road.

Police arrived at the scene and found the corpse of a naked woman.

The woman, who was suspected to have been dead for two or three days, bore injury marks on the back of her head and some other bruises on her body.

Police officers later identified her as a 50-year-old resident of the building, who was said to have got drunk often.

After initial investigation, they suspected that she might have fallen from a high place in the building.

A new owner of a Chinese restaurant close to the yard said that the eatery, which was under renovation, had nothing to do with the case.

The woman was found only because a renovation worker who was set to install an air conditioner happened to see her body, the restaurant owner said.

The Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West is investigating the case.

According to reports, the restaurant was due to reopen on May 6 following a change in the ownership.
