Coffee is on him but the big tab goes to you.

A 30-minute coffee meeting with Eric Schimdt is inspiring frenetic bidding on a charity auction site, with one bidder upping the ante to US$16,000.

Charitybuzz is hoping it will draw rival bids and run up the fundraising to its full potential before it closes on Aug. 14, according to news website SFGate.

The winner and a guest will get the promised 30 minutes with the Google chairman -- and who knows what else given the latter's well-known views on just about any subject.

The meeting will take place in Google's New York offices. The money raised will go to the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation which helps inner city youth in New York get exposed to the arts.

Last year, Apple chief executive Tim Cook helped raise US$610,000 by auctioning off a half-hour coffee meeting with him to benefit the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights.
