Two men in a suspected triad attack in Yau Ma Tei last week have been arrested and will be prosecuted for assault and for perverting the course of justice.

The suspects, described by investigators as a 26-year-old Indian man and a 33-year-old Pakistani, led officers to their rented flat to search for evidence, Apple Daily reports.

The two, believed to be members of Wo Shing Wo triad society, are suspected to have attacked an Indian witness in an assault trial in order to muzzle him, according to investigators.

The suspects ambushed the Indian man in a Yau Ma Tei back alley on Thursday.

He sustained cuts to his right hand from a paper cutter, Headline Daily reports.

He is scheduled to testify in the assault trial of nine South Asian men who attacked three fellow South Asians in the MTR Jordan station in September last year.

The victims suffered serious injuries.

The hearing is set to begin on July 11.
