HK Covid situation update
Workers at a construction site at the Lam Tin-Tseung Kwan O Tunnel will have to undergo mandatory testing once again following a second coronavirus outbreak there, Health officials said.
The site saw its first outbreak last month.
Officials said the latest confirmed Covid-19 patient - a supervisor at the site – developed symptoms on December 30. Ten other workers also tested preliminary positive for the virus, according to RTHK report.
The Centre for Health Protection’s Chuang Shuk-kwan said around 1,500 workers will be tested and works will be suspended.
Meanwhile, mandatory testing orders will be issued for those living in two more public housing blocks-Un Shing House in Un Chau Estate in Sham Shui Po and Fai Lam House of Tsui Lam Estate in Tseung Kwan O.
Chief Secretary, Matthew Cheung, warned on Sunday of a potential resurgence of the number of Covid-19 cases after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The chief secretary added that the government is speeding up the arrangement of coronavirus vaccines and he urged the public to take the jabs once they're available.
The Centre for Health Protection said Sunday there were 41 additional COVID-19 cases.
