Amazon strikes deal with Grubhub
Amazon announced on Wednesday a deal to add Grubhub delivery as a perk to U.S. Amazon Prime members, according to reports. Amazon Prime members will be able to order food from Grubhub without a delivery fee for one year.
The deals follows an agreement between Amazon and Grubhub's parent company Just Eat Takeaway, that gave the e-commerce giant the option to buy a 2% stake in Grubhub, and to buy an additional 13% stake if certain performance metrics pertaining to customer acquisitions are met.
Shares of Just Eat Takeaway soared while shares of Doordash took a hit as its key competitor aligned itself with the deep-pocketed e-commerce giant.
