Foreign dairy producers must register with Chinese authorities and meet domestic rules and standards on sanitary conditions before they can sell their products in the country, Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday, citing guidelines released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The first batch of registered overseas dairy producers include 1,122 companies, including 41 makers on baby formula, the report said, adding that more will be added to the list after their registration.
