A nephew of Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho has been held for questioning over alleged involvement in a prostitution racket.

Alan Ho was one of dozens arrested Monday by prosecutors in the gaming enclave, according to Ming Pao Daily.

The younger Ho arrived separately, along with three other men and two women. All were handcuffed, the report said.

A large crowd of reporters had gathered outside the prosecution office when the group was brought in.

Those arrested included 96 sex workers, aged 20 to 27. All but one -- a Vietnamese -- were mainlanders.

They were arrested during a police raid on 90 premises in the largest prostitution crackdown since Macau's 1999 handover to China.

Authorities seized 1 million patacas (US$125,200) worth of cash in renminbi and Hong Kong dollars, the report said.

Ho, 68, is executive director of Lisboa Hotels, the elder Ho's gaming flagship, Apple Daily reported.

Police checking registration records found the names of 2,400 suspected sex workers who stayed in the hotel last year.

The prostitution syndicate made an estimated 400 million patacas from the operation, according to media reports.
