Institutions run by the English Schools Foundation (ESF) in Hong Kong plan to raise their tuition fees in 2016 when the government will start phasing out subsidies to the schools.
The tuition fee of the ESF primary schools will be hiked to HK$78,700 from HK$74,100 per year, representing an increase of 6.2 percent, Ming Pao Daily reported.
The annual fee on students in grades 7-11 in middle schools will rise to HK$110,600 from HK$105,700, while that for 12th grade will be increased to HK$116,200 from HK$111,100, it said.
For kindergartens, the tuition fee at ESF Abacus school will increase the most to HK$68,000 per year, with a hike of 8.8 percent, according to the report.
ESF-run private school Renaissance College will raise its yearly tuition fee by 6.25 percent, while another private school Discovery College will increase its fee by 6.5 percent.
