Mom dog suckles litter after dramatic sea rescue

A dog which fell into the water off Stonecutters island has emerged unscathed after a frantic rescue by firemen.

The dog was spotted struggling in the water by workers in a public cargo yard on the island, SkyPost reported Tuesday.

The report did not say what caused her to fall and how long she was in the water but she suffered only minor scratches, according to the Society for the Preventon of Cruelty to Animals.

As soon as she was brought ashore, she ran off to suckle her litter.

The dog was adopted by the cargo yard workers who built her a wooden shelter.

She later became pregnant and gave birth to five puppies two weeks ago.
