Australian detained for groping Cathay flight attendant

An Australian man is facing charges of indecent assault after he allegedly groped a Cathay Pacific flight attendant on board a plane in Hong Kong late Tuesday.

The man, said to be 60 years in age, was arrested after a 23-year-old flight attendant complained that she had been touched inappropriately, Apple Daily reported.

The indecent behavior took place as flight CX383, which was bound for Zurich, was preparing for take off at the Hong Kong International Airport.

According to some reports, the Australian hugged the flight attendant from behind.

The flight attendant reported the matter to the chief pilot, who considered the matter to be serious and notified the police.

Police officers arrived soon and led the Australian away from the aircraft.

He was charged with indecent assault. The crime unit of the Airport Police is following up on the case.

The incident, meanwhile, led to a delayed departure of the Zurich-bound flight.

The plane, which was supposed to leave at 11:50 pm Tuesday, took off at 1:11 am Wednesday.
