Luxury car dented after owner honks at pedestrians

Either he wasn’t stepping on the accelerator, or his pursuers were world-beating sprinters.

The 21-year-old driver of a Tesla Model S is paying the price for honking at people trying to cross the street, Apple Daily reported Sunday.

The tattooed man was driving the expensive electric sports sedan near the intersection of Portland Street and Soy Street in Mong Kok at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Several men, reportedly of South Asian origin, were about to cross the road.

The motorist blew his horn at them, which appeared to anger the group.

The men chased the car and dented its rear with rubber sticks and steel objects.

Patrolling police officers spotted the attack and later arrested an 18-year-old suspect.

The Tesla driver declined to press charges.

He said he will pay the repair cost, estimated to be several thousand Hong Kong dollars.

The electric car costs between HK$600,000 (US$77,400) and HK$850,000.

It takes a little over three seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h.
