Traffic policeman knocked off bike after defying red light

A traffic police officer was knocked off his motorcycle by a taxi at an intersection of Leighton Road in Causeway Bay on Tuesday, Apple Daily reported.

The accident, which took place at 2:50 p.m., was captured on camera by a private car following the officer’s bike.

The officer was seen driving without using a siren along Canal Road East and crossed the intersection of Leighton Road and Canal Road West while the red light was still on.

He was tossed in the air after being hit by an eastbound taxi cruising along Leighton Road.

The officer attempted to stand up after landing hard on the ground but had to lay low until he was taken to a hospital.

He sustained injuries to his right arm and right leg, while the 64-year-old taxi driver was not injured.
