Filipino helper found dead in her bed

An elderly Filipino domestic helper has been found dead in the Mid-Levels home of her long-time employer.

The 65-year-old woman, named Evangeline, apparently died from a heart attack, Ming Pao Daily reports.

She was found unresponsive in her bed Wednesday morning by another live-in helper and was certified dead by paramedics.

Evangeline had been a long-serving helper for former legislator Kenneth Ting and his family in their Bowen Road residence.

Investigators said she suffered from chronic heart disease.

Police allowed her body to be removed after ruling out foul play.

An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Ting, 73, is chairman of Kader Industrial Co. Ltd. which makes toys and plastic products.

He served in the Legislative Council from 1998 to 2004 and is a past chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries.
