The driver of a luxury sedan was given a fright early Wednesday, when he returned to his parked car to find police officers surrounding the vehicle, Headline Daily reported Thursday.
The 46-year-old man, surnamed Sing, reportedly drove the Bentley Continental GT Speed to dinner and then a massage session at a sauna on Hanoi Road Tuesday night.
Sing paid HK$150 for valet parking.
When he returned to retrieve his car from a metered parking space at 5 a.m. Wednesday, he found several police officers waiting for him.
They told him they suspected there might be drugs inside the car.
Sing immediately unlocked the car and emptied the trunk for inspection.
Police, who had acted on an anonymous tip-off, confirmed there was nothing suspicious in the car and classified the case as a misunderstanding.
Sing suspected he was the victim of a malicious prank.
The Bentley, bought for HK$4.3 million last year, was registered in the name of a private company, the two directors of which are surnamed Tang and Leung.
