Bike wheel theft ends in bloody rampage

An attempted theft of a bicycle wheel led to a bloody rampage by the suspect on the bike’s owner.

The victim, a 43-year-old Nepali man named Rana, was brought by ambulance to Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long with hack wounds to his hands and head.

Police are treating the incident as assault, Ta Kung Pao reports.

They are looking for another Nepali man, about five feet three inches tall, in a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans.

The attack took place after Rana tried to stop the suspect from running away with the wheel around 9 a.m. Monday in Ma Tin Pok village.

An altercation ensued before the attacker produced a machete and began hacking Rana, investigators said.

Police later recovered a rusted machete and the stolen wheel abandoned by the suspect.
