Thief learns why lightning quick isn’t fast enough

You can’t outrun the internet even if you’re lightning quick.

A thief who pulled off a two-second job on an unsuspecting victim learned how social media travels at warp speed.

The female suspect became an internet star for all the wrong reasons after a clip of the incident went viral on Facebook, Headline Daily reports.

The police are also on her tail.

The victim, a 41-year-old woman surnamed Lee, had just left Lane Crawford in Causeway Bay when she realized her iPhone 5 was missing.

After making a police report, she went back to the store and asked to see a surveillance video.

And there it was.

The clip shows Lee trying on a pair of shoes.

A tall, long-haired woman, who presumably has been following Lee, sits behind her.

It takes the suspect just two seconds to swipe the iPhone from Lee’s handbag and a little more time to get away undetected.

Except that the whole thing was being recorded by a security camera.

Soon enough, the clip was doing the rounds of social media.

A spokesperson for Lane Crawford said the store is helping police in their investigation.
