Newborn found dead in waters near Aberdeen

Authorities are investigating the death of a newborn baby who was found floating in the waters near the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter early Tuesday.

The male child was found dead with 10-kilogram solid iron attached to him with a rope, Apple Daily reported.

A 53-year-old fisherman surnamed Ng found the naked corpse in the waters as he returned to his boat at around 7.40 am.

The newborn still had his umbilical cord and placenta attached to him.

Ng quickly alerted the police, prompting them to rush to the scene and pull out the body from the sea.

A four-meter-long red nylon rope was found tied around the boy’s waist, with the other end of the rope attached to a solid iron.

An autopsy is being carried out to ascertain the exact cause and time of death.

The police’s criminal investigation department has begun an investigation and efforts are underway to determine the identity of the newborn and his mother.
