A young mother thought to be suffering from post-natal depression killed herself by jumping from her flat in Sham Tseng.
The 32-year-old woman, surnamed Wong, had given birth to a boy just two weeks earlier, Ming Pao Daily reports.
Wong was found on the ground near the entrance to her building, several floors below her Lido Garden apartment, after crashing through an awning.
Doctors failed to revive her and she was certified dead in a hospital hours later.
Wong and her husband, surnamed Poon, had been married three years but the report did not say whether the boy is their first child.
They have lived in the HK$3 million (US$386,000) apartment since buying it 2011. Poon works as a senior tax analyst in a multinational accounting firm.
Wong was preparing to feed the infant at 6 a.m. on Wednesday when she suddenly jumped out of a window.
She had been seeing a doctor and was on medication.
Lau Kar-cho, chief clinical psychologist of the Social Welfare Department, said patients diagnosed with post-natal depression should maintain regular contact with their doctors to ensure proper treatment.
Family members should talk to the patient more often to help relieve stress.
