An apparently healthy eight-year-old boy suddenly died after collapsing outside his grandparents’ home in Tai Po on Sunday night.
His shocked family was awaiting the forensic report to know what happened to the child, Apple Daily reported.
Chan Lik-hang, an only-child, used to live with his parents and grandparents at Oi Wo House in Tai Wo Estate in Tai Po.
But since a public housing unit was allocated recently to the family in Hung Shui Kiu, his father has been living there while Chan continued to stay in Tai Po where he studied. He only visited his parents during holidays.
On Sunday morning, Chan went to Hung Shui Ki after attending a tutorial class. He played in the park in the afternoon.
At around 7 p.m., Chan’s father drove him back to his grandparents’ home in Tai Po.
Since they could not find a parking space, his father decided to drop him off near Oi Wo House and asked him to go up to his grandparents’ home by himself.
When he reached the lobby of Oi Wo House, Chan fainted and collapsed on the floor. His nose was bleeding.
Security guards called the police and the boy’s grandfather upstairs.
Chan was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The boy was healthy and did not have any congenital diseases, Chan’s father said.
He loved to play Lego bricks and tinker with robotic devices, the father added.
He said he wanted to have the forensic report as soon as possible to know what happened to his son.
