A police constable admitted to charges of having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
In a hearing at the High Court on Tuesday, Wong Wai-hung, 39, said he had sex with the minor, referred to as “X” in court, while his wife was pregnant, Ming Pao Daily reported.
Wong has three children aged two to 13; X is a classmate of his 13-year-old son.
Wong first met X in May 2014 through his son, who often studied and played badminton with the girl.
In about two months’ time, Wong started communicating with X using WhatsApp and called her “god-daughter”.
Wong gave her toys, flowers and watches from time to time and would even chauffeur for her.
During examination periods, Wong would arrange X and his son to study at a vacant flat in Tin Shui Wai.
The girl and her mother at first felt strange about Wong’s overly enthusiastic treatment, but they let their guards down after learning that he is a police officer, thinking that he is a trustworthy person.
On Jan. 17 last year, Wong was supposed to take the girl home but instead drove to a remote location where he kissed her and fondled her breast inside the car. On Feb. 24, Wong again kissed the girl at his Tin Shui Wai flat and attempted to have sex with her.
On Wong’s birthday on March 15, he again took X to the same flat where they had sex. The girl had vaginal bleeding after the intercourse and Wong said he would keep the tissue paper used to clean the blood.
On April 5, X’s mother confronted her daughter after suspecting that she was in a relationship.
The girl told her mother about what happened and her mother later sought help from a social worker at school, who subsequently called the police.
The police arrested Wong two days later at the Tin Shui Wai Police Station and found a blood-stained tissue paper inside Wong’s locker.
Judge Maggie Poon Man-kay sought a trauma assessment report on the girl, as well as the psychiatric, psychological and background reports on Wong.
Wong was charged with indecent assault, attempted unlawful sexual intercourse and unlawful sexual intercourse. He will be sentenced on Feb. 15.
