Empty KMB bus catches fire at terminus in Tsuen Wan

A KMB double-decker bus burst into flames at a terminus in Tsuen Wan on Tuesday afternoon, several minutes after the passengers got off, Headline Daily reported.

At about 2:30 p.m., the chief of the Allway Gardens bus terminus saw smoke and fire coming out of the rear of the No. 30 bus.

He called police and the fire department.

A video clip showed the fire spreading rapidly, heavy black smoke rising into the sky.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes after they arrived to put out the fire, which left the bottom deck of the bus seriously damaged.

The 14-year-old vehicle had just undergone routine inspections early this month, the report said.

An initial investigation by police revealed nothing suspicious.

Some firefighters suspected a short circuit was to blame for the blaze, but the cause has yet to be determined.
