Firefighters save boy after water pipe nearly suffocates him

A little boy in Zhejiang province almost suffocated after he got his head stuck in an empty water pipe.

The boy, aged about four or five, survived after the pipe was cut off, Apple Daily reported, citing mainland media.

The accident took place in Yueqing city Tuesday afternoon, when the boy was playing by himself in his father’s store.

The father, who was busy with customers, was shocked to see his son with his head trapped in a white, L-shaped water pipe.

The boy wasn’t able to talk and had difficulty breathing, his father said.

After he failed in an attempt to remove the pipe, the father took the boy to the fire department to seek help.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to cut off the pipe with tools and save the boy’s life.

The father said his son was active and always played in the store, but he had never expected something like this to happen.

While it remains a mystery as to how the boy’s head got into the pipe, some netizens said after the happy ending that they could not help bursting out laughing at picture of the boy with his head in the pipe, because he looked like a cartoon character.

Police called on parents to pay more attention to their children, especially during the summer vacation, stay alert and avoid leaving them to play alone or touch dangerous objects.
