American tutor pleads not guilty to indecent assault charges

An American tutor has pleaded not guilty to indecent assault charges, although he admitted in court having put his arms around a 12-year-old girl at the latter’s home in Discovery Bay last year, Apple Daily reports.

The court heard that Ronald William Hevey, 44, who is currently without a permanent job, held the hand of the girl, kissed her on her lips and attempted to peep into her breasts by pulling her collars, when he was alone with her in a room during a private mathematics tutorial session last Sept. 19.

The girl resisted and ordered Hevey to leave, the court heard. Hevey then asked the girl not to tell anyone about what had happened.

Still, the girl told her mother, who eventually called the police.

The case has been adjourned to June 23 for a verdict.
