A female motorist in China suffered a heat stroke and required medical attention after she turned on her car heating system by mistake, according to mainland media.
Jiangsu News cited staff at an emergency hotline center as saying that they received a call for help at around 2 pm on Sunday from a woman who had been driving along the Qiyang Expressway.
The woman said that she was feeling very ill and that she had stopped her vehicle by the roadside.
As she was unable to give clear information on her whereabouts, rescue teams conducted a search along an entire stretch of the highway.
Eventually, they found the motorist in an emergency lay-by of the highway, looking extremely pale.
Police officers put the woman, who appeared to be having a heat stroke, in their car and gave her water.
The officers then inspected the woman’s vehicle and found that she had wrongly switched the car’s air-conditioning to the heater mode.
She was later taken to a hospital for treatment.
After local media reported about the incident, the story went viral in online forums.
Many netizens mocked the motorist, saying that she lacked common sense and couldn’t differentiate between heating and air-conditioning.
Some questioned why she didn’t open the window if she felt hot inside the car, while others wondered as to how she managed to get a driving license in the first place.
