Cops learn they couldn’t outrun torrent

Two motorcycle cops who braved Monday’s rainstorm couldn’t outrun the torrent but one was lucky to escape unhurt.

He dug his six-year-old BMW police bike into a rocky hillside after falling off a cliff on Route Twisk in Shek Kong Village in the New Territories, according to Apple Daily.

But the other ended up in hospital after his motorbike figured in a three-way smash-up on a wet road in Tuen Mun.

The accident occurred at about 6:10 p.m. when the policeman was traveling on Tuen Mun Road, news website hk01 reports.

He was bought to Yan Chai Hospital where his condition is unknown.

The lucky cop jumped off the bike at just the right moment and survived by the skin of his teeth.

He was headed for Kam Tin when the accident happened at about 11.40 a.m. after he took a spill on a slippery section and lost control of the bike.

Police are investigating if mechanical failure contributed to the accidents.
