More than HK$1 million in cash and jewelry were lost after burglars swooped down on three houses in Sai Kung district on Sunday.
In Clearwater Bay, a 62-year-old man surnamed Li returned home around 9 p.m. and discovered that his flat at Bella Vista on Silver Terrace Road had been ransacked, hk01.com reports.
He estimated that HK$20,000 in cash as well as watches and jewelry worth more than HK$830,000 had been taken.
Around an hour later, an apartment at 30 Razor Hill Road in Tseung Kwan O was also burgled.
The 48-year-old owner surnamed Ms. Chan reported to the police that the burglars opened the windows forcibly to gain entry and took three watches worth HK$150,000.
The Kwun Tong Regional Crime Unit took over the investigation of the two cases, but there had been no arrests yet.
Earlier, at around noon, another break-in was reported at Silverstrand Garden in Clearwater Bay.
A 42-year-old tenant identified as Anna discovered that the back door of her flat had been forcibly opened.
She estimated that HK$38,000 worth of watches and HK$16,000 in cash and foreign exchange had been taken.
