Good Samaritans attend to old woman injured in TKO road mishap

A horrible street accident in Tseung Kwan O became a touching scene of caring and a demonstration of the kindness of strangers.

An old woman was trying to cross Tong Tsun Road at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when she was knocked down by a light goods truck coming from Po Yap Road, Metro Daily reports.

Witnesses said the woman was bleeding and lying in the middle of the road intersection, although it was not clear if she was still conscious.

It was also not clear if the truck driver stopped and tried to help the victim.

However, as it was raining, passers-by gathered around the injured woman and shared their umbrellas to shelter her from the rain.

The people did not dare to move the victim to a sheltered area as they were not certain about the extent of her injuries and moving her might do her more harm.

A student even took off a cardigan to help keep her warm.

A doctor who happened to be at the scene attended to the victim before an ambulance arrived and rushed her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Jordan, hk01.com reported.

One witness said at one point there were nearly 30 umbrellas providing shelter to the injured woman, a poignant scene of kindness on a cold and dreary day.
