Police arrest man suspected of robbing woman of her underwear

Police arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of assaulting a woman and ordering her to take off her underwear at a deserted parking lot in Yau Tong before dawn on Tuesday.

The victim, a 38-year-old woman surnamed Tsang, told police she was walking across a parking lot at Chak Mei House of Yau Mei Court, a Home Ownership Scheme development, at around 3 a.m. Tuesday when a man sneaked up on her and hit her head against a wall, hk01.com reported.

The man then told her she wanted not only her money but also her phone number. She said he even tried to kiss her.

When she told him she did not carry her purse, the man flew into a rage and ordered her to take off her bra and panties instead. He told her that if she did not obey him, he would take them off himself.

Fearing for her life, she did what she was told, and the man grabbed the clothing and fled, Apple Daily reported.

During the incident, the woman said, the man told her he had not dated for three years, and asked her if she could be his girlfriend. He said he did not intend to hurt her.

She suspected the man to be mentally ill.

Based on the victim’s description, police looked for a Chinese man of medium build, about 1.6 to 1.7 meters’ tall, with short hair.

The suspect was arrested in Kwun Tong at about 11 p.m. Tuesday. He was detained pending further investigation, hk01.com said.
