Policeman, 25, dies before receiving commendation

Comrades knew him as a dedicated police officer. In fact, the 25-year-old officer was about to receive a commendation for his excellent performance as a lawman, but that did not happen.

On Thursday night, his younger sister called the police and said his 25-year-old brother had been found unconscious in his flat at Sau Man House of Choi Wan Estate in Wong Tai Sin, hk01.com reports.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed him to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong, where he was later pronounced dead.

It is said that the young officer was suffering from gastritis and had been to a doctor in the morning.

Initial investigation showed nothing suspicious about the officer’s untimely death. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the actual cause of his death.

The officer joined the force three years ago. When he graduated from the Hong Kong Police College, he received the Silver Whistle Award in recognition of his outstanding performance as a cadet.

He signed up for a training program of the Police Tactical Unit in Fanling last November and was set to be given the best police constable award at the graduation ceremony scheduled for Friday.

Before his death, the officer had written several articles about his love for running. He held the fastest time in the 2.4-kilometer running race at the Police Athletics Club.
