Police arrested a 65-year-old man suspected of cutting the long hair of a lady who was sleeping on a bus.
The victim, 25, was seated in front of the man on the upper deck of a Citybus route 107 bus while it was traveling from Kowloon Bay to Aberdeen on Sunday morning, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reports.
Not long after the bus entered the Cross-Harbour Tunnel, a passenger seated behind the lady pulled out a pair of scissors and started to cut about 15 centimeters off her ponytail.
Shocked passengers who saw what he was doing shouted at the man and asked him to stop immediately. They also called the police.
When the bus arrived in Causeway Bay, the man tried to get off but several passengers stopped him from escaping.
Police arrived and got on the bus on Gloucester Road near Cannon Street in Causeway Bay at around 9 a.m.
The man was arrested for assault resulting in bodily harm and possession of offensive weapon.
Initial investigation revealed that the man, who claimed to be a hairstylist, was irritated because the lady’s ponytail was touching his knees, which were pressed against the back of the seat occupied by the dozing victim.
